Welcome to the Coalition for Animal Concern's website!

This year we have been lucky enough to receive the Kenneth Scott Grant for our school programs.

This past year we had a huge success in our education programs.  We had a grand total of 32 school programs and we are very pleased with this outcome.  Hoping for 22 in the 2008-2009 school year!

How monies are spent?

Coordinator is paid a small amount for each program.

Director is paid for attending each program.

Supplies include paper, ink, postage, folders, copies, labels, and hopefully a camera this year.

Who is the coordinator?

Amanda is the coordinator of the school programs.  She is a full time Graduate student at the University of Akron.  Her B.S. in education and her M.S. will also be in education.  She works on campus and plans to graduate next august.

Her job is to put together the information that is sent to each school.  She is the contact person for the schools.  She also has been very busy putting together packets to pass out to each student after the program.  You probably won't see her at any programs as work, school and putting together the programs keep her pretty busy.

Who is the Director?

Nancy is the director, because she cares for the animals that come to the school programs.  The dogs and cats that attend the programs are her pets that she has adopted.  Nancy is retired and spends most of her time volunteering with the Coalition, McKinnely Museum and works with the North Canton Playhouse.  So she is pretty busy as well.  She is also a grandmother (to Amanda).

Her job is to bring the animals and packets to your school.  She will need about 15 minutes before the children come in to get the animals settled and would like to talk with he principal at this time.

What are school programs?

School programs are conducted by our education director.  Our director takes four ex-racing greyhounds and Miss Patti the therapy cat into local schools.  School programs can be done with preschool all the way up to seniors in high school.  Everyone will benefit from this program.

How do we do these programs?
This year we received a grant to help the CAC spread the word about animal. There is no cost to the local schools.

Donations:
Even though there is no cost to the schools although we will accept donation of food, towels, toys, brushes, collars and leashes.  These items are needed to keep the CAC running.

What will we bring?
We will bring 4 ex racing greyhounds and Miss Patti the therapy cat.  We will also bring useful materials so the children will have a better understanding of Greyhounds and a companion pet.

How long will the program last?
Typically the programs run 45 minutes.

Who are the programs for?
The programs have been done with preschools all the way up to seniors.  Everyone will take a bit of new information with them when they leave.  Typically the program takes place in the gym with no more then 4 classes at one time.  If more classes would like to take part in this program we are willing to do different days.

We do not do programs on Thursdays!

Please e-mail us to schedule an appointment for your school!
