Stanley Obit
Although Stanley's time with me was short, he touched my heart as they all do. A victim of someone's uncompassionate ways, he was dumped out of a car and left to fend for himself. I found him in the hay in my barn, actually, it was the other cats that gave him away! Through the generosity of a friend, he was neutered, leukemia tested and vaccinated and ready to start out a new life with love, food and friends. Unfortunately, a pre-existing condition that was unknown until the stress of the surgery, brought about a premature death for Stanley. I am thankful for the time I had with him and the fact that he got to enjoy a soft touch and kind voice and know that someone cared for him. I held him as he peacefully passed away. R.I.P. Stanley

Willy
Willy! In the Summer of 2004 a cry went out over the Internet for someone to take in an old cat. He was a matted up mess--his long cream hair was cut short. He turned out to be 16+ years old when I adopted him. Surprisingly he was in good health when I had blood work done. Once he had been someones believed pet. He was declawed in all four feet and he had been neutered and loved. Somehow he had ended up with a collector and we can only imagine his life there. He was rescued and after about 2 years that person put him outside. He spent the winter of 03-04 outside. That was a really bad winter--it was very cold and it is hard to believe that he survived. He was the sweetest old man. So loving, so gentle and kind. He only lived another year and a half but he made such an impact on everyone he met. He became the mascot for the Coalition for Animal Concerns. He held court at all the meetings. He appeared on the CTC-TV spots several times. He went to Senior Day Care Centers and to area Nursing Homes. He went to area schools and did programs with the Greyhound's. He would curl up on a lap and take a nap. He was a class act. In Oct. of 05 he started to cough and he was losing weight. He ate huge amounts of canned food but continued to lose weight. He stayed as sweet and loving as ever. Every evening he spent on my lap and then one evening I knew it would not be long. I spent most of the night checking on him and by noon the next day he had passed. It was very peaceful here with those who loved him. The Greyhound's and the other cats all had a chance to say good by. His pictures hang on the Family Room wall and his ashes are here. It is hard to believe that an old cat who's life here was so short could make such an impact on all who met him. Given by: Nancy Ruble
